Two broadleaf herbicides, dicamba + prosulfuron and bentazon, have recently been introduced to control broadleaf weeds in wheat fields of Iran. Therefore, in order to compare their efficacy with conventional broadleaf herbicides, the present study was conducted in the Agricultural Research and Education Centers and Natural Resources of Karaj, Moghan, Mashhad and Dezful in a randomized complete block design with four replications during the 2023–2024 growing season. Treatments consisted of dicamba + prosulfuron at 300, 350, and 400 g ha-1; bentazon at 600, 700, 900, and 1100 g ha-1; bromoxynil + 2,4-D at 1.5 L ha-1; Basagran + dichlorprop at 2 L ha-1; dicamba + triasulfuron at 165 g ha-1; bromoxynil + MCPA at 1.5 L ha-1; and weed-free check throughout the growing season. Results revealed that dicamba + prosulfuron reduced the dry weight of dominant weeds by 86–98% in Karaj, 80–94% in Moghan, 91–100% in Mashhad, and 82–94% in Dezful. Similarly, bentazon reduced weed biomass by 76–91%, 84–100%, 81–98%, and 81–97% in the respective locations. Among the reference herbicides, dicamba + triasulfuron exhibited the lowest efficacy (84%), while bromoxynil + 2,4-D showed the highest (above 92%). Mean comparison indicated that bentazon applied at 600, 700, 900, and 1100 g ha-1 increased wheat grain yield by 23%, 28%, 31%, and 36%, respectively, compared with the untreated control. Likewise, dicamba + prosulfuron at 300, 350, and 400 g ha-1 enhanced yield by 21%, 30%, and 35%, respectively. Based on these findings, dicamba + prosulfuron can be recommended at 350–400 g ha-1 and Basagran® at 900–1100 g ha-1 for effective weed management in wheat without damage to wheat.
